This chapter discussed a six-stage purchasing development. It suggests that as purchasing as a discipline in companies moves from one stage to another, purchasing managers need to prepare for resistance from the organization. What kind of problems and/or resistance might purchasing managers expect when companies move from stage 1 to stage 2, from stage 2 to stage 3, and so on?
