The soil suspension was then filtered, the filtrate was discarded, and the soil was thoroughly leached with distilled water to remove any nonexchangeable Ba2+. Then the sample was shaken with a strong solution of MgCl2 and again filtered. The last filtrate was found to contain 10,520 mg of Mg2+ and 258 mg of Ba2+. What is the CEC of the soil?
