Needed something for my course ACCT 420: Advanced Cost Accounting and Data Analytics and found this cost book at a nice discount, got it the other day. Haven't really dug deep yet but looks good quality and the cover's solid. Shipping was quicker than I thought, so all in all, pretty happy so far.

Was hunting online because my professor told me to grab a cost accounting book with some data analytics stuff thrown in and came across this one on sale for a pretty good price—had to grab it. Got here quicker than I expected, and honestly unpacking it, it seemed solid and nice quality.
I zeroed in on Chapter 5: Cost-Volume-Profit Analysis since that's what we struggled with hardest in class. That part really clicked for me, the way they mix cost accounting basics with data bits to explain profit breakdowns was eye-opening. Made the whole thing less scary. It’s weird but it sparked an aha moment about handling costs in my own side gig—finally made sense how changing output affected my profit margins after reading that chapter.
One thing I wished was a bit better was more practice exercises—it had some but I wanted more chances to check if I understood the ideas fully. Other than that, it’s easy enough to follow, like the steps walk you through cause and effect, which helps a lot if you're not math-savvy.
If you’re someone who’s into numbers but found the ‘data part’ kinda intimidating before, this book does a good job bridging the two with this chapter in particular [plus it was sweet snagging it at a discount]. Definitely gonna keep this for future projects or when the next round of cost classes come around. Would tell buddies to grab this book if they're looking for something approachable but still serious about learning cost accounting along with data stuff.
