What I really appreciated about this text was how it melded theoretical concepts with practical examples. Each chapter felt like a mini-course in management skills. Packaging was sturdy and the book arrived pretty quick. A bit pricey, but worth it for those serious about building their leadership skills.

I enjoyed reading this book and found it to be a helpful resource. It provides a nice balance of theory and practice, and the exercises at the end of each chapter support skill development. My only beef was that the book could have delved deeper into some topics. Overall, it arrived on time and was in good shape. Saved a few bucks thanks to my subscription too.

Needed this for my course MGMT 301: Advanced Management Skills Development and got it free, so that’s awesome. It showed up real quick and packed well, looks good quality. Haven't read a lot yet but what I peeked at seems like it'll help without being super complicated, so happy so far.

I happened onto this book cause my course needed it and by chance it was free so, yeah, I grabbed it right away. Honestly, I struggled a bit with understanding how to handle conflict in my volunteer group beforehand, which was stressing me out a lot. When I hit Chapter 9 on Conflict Resolution, everything just kinda clicked. The way it broke down different conflict styles and how to approach tough convos was super refreshing and way easier to get than I thought such a topic would be. Especially the part where it talks about finding win-win solutions - that gave me some hope. After reading that, I tried actually talking stuff through instead of avoiding it or flipping out, and wow, things did improve. Felt pretty proud managing a mini-conflict like a pro even though it’s small stuff compared to big management issues. The chapter had good examples that hit home and even exercises which I wasn’t expecting to use but really did help cement the ideas. That said, sometimes the explanations get a little jargon-y and the chunk of text on “assertiveness” had me rereading, probably because stress wasn’t in the mix for me when I read it. Maybe a bit more real-life stories would make it easier for folks like me to get the feel for it quicker. If you’re totally new to management or get stuck trying to work with difficult people, that chapter alone makes this book worth checking out. Glad I had it gratis because it made something I’d find daunting mostly chill. I’d say this one’s a good bet for anyone wanting less fuzzy answers on handling conflict tactfully. Easy enough read, too, so no major headaches there. emma diamond
