I found out about this textbook while browsing for something less confusing than my lecture notes on stats and got lucky since the book was free! The thing that really stuck out to me was Chapter 3 on Correlation and Causality. Before this, I was struggling to tell apart when two things were just connected and when one really caused the other. Going through that chapter kinda flipped a switch in my brain. It used everyday stuff to explain why just because A and B happen together doesn’t mean one caused the other, which seemed obvious afterward but I honestly hadn’t gotten it well before. The examples made it click — like the thing with ice cream sales and shark attacks which share a pattern but aren’t related — weird but so true! I tried using this idea the very next day when a friend mentioned some crazy claim about a health product causing miracles. I now catch myself asking for the evidence on whether something actually causes an effect or just appears to, which saves me from wild beliefs or jumping the gun. On the downside, some parts felt like they assumed I already had a clue about basic stats terms which wasn’t the case, so I had to keep flipping back to earlier pages — a bit annoying when you’re doing it right before a test. Still, I'd say the chapter found the sweet spot where you learn real stuff without too much fluff. if you’re trying to get stats to finally make sense beyond the formulas, give that chapter a look — it’s faintly addictive to get those "a-ha" moments and learning to spot faulty cause-effect stuff is honestly useful outside class too.

I've been using this book for a few weeks, and I must say it strikes a good balance between theory and practical examples. It's been quite a tool in simplifying stats for me. I do wish some chapters had more detailed explanations but overall, a solid book. Delivery was fast, and the book was well-packaged. Definitely a worthy purchase for those who want an accessible entry point into statistics.
