Book Price $0 : The 6th edition of 'Government and Not for Profit Accounting: Concepts and Practices' by Michael H. Granof and Saleha B. Khumawala serves as an essential guide for understanding the complexities of government and non-profit financial statements. This edition continues to refine its approach by offering comprehensive explanations of accounting principles applied uniquely within the public and not-for-profit sectors. The book emphasizes the importance of understanding fund accounting, budgetary constraints, and the standards set by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB). It meticulously details the processes and methodologies used in government accounting, ensuring clarity in sectors often perceived as opaque due to their specific regulatory environment. The inclusion of a solution manual allows students to practice concepts and validate their understanding with provided Answer Key references, while the detailed table of contents organizes chapters logically for easy navigation. Though there are no fictional characters or traditional plots, the 'characters' here can be identified as the complex governmental entities and non-profit organizations themselves, whose financial narratives are elucidated throughout the book. Reception of the book has been positive, highlighting its utility in aligning accounting practices with financial reporting requirements specific to governmental units and nonprofit organizations. This text is indispensable for those aiming to master public sector accounting and establish a robust foundation in fiscal transparency and accountability. Its educational effectiveness is magnified by practical examples and case studies that bridge theoretical aspects with real-world application. Thanks to cheap printing techniques, this textbook remains an affordable option for most students.

Was shocked to get this one free since I needed it for my Bachelor of Science in Accounting studies. The book looks really decent for college work, feels sturdy and the pages aren’t all flimsy like some asks you’d spend money on. I started looking at some chapters and it’s kinda straightforward, not too confusing even though it gets into some tough government and nonprofit accounting parts. Skipping those boring bits, but it’s doing what I need for now. Glad it came quick too so didn’t waste time waiting. Definitely worth grabbing if you need it for class!
