(a) Suppose the placebo trials were ignored and you were only told that 21 of 57 were abstinent after using the medicated patches. Would this now appear to be stronger evidence in favor of the patches?
(b) Explain why the placebo trials provide a more valid reference for results of the medicated patch trials.
