An informal experiment was conducted at McNair Academic High School in Jersey City, New Jersey, to investigate the use of laptop computers as a learning tool in the study of algebra.20 A freshman class of 20 students was given laptops to use at school and at home, while another freshman class of 27 students was not given laptops; however, many of these students were able to use computers at home.
