As mentioned in the note in section 2.1, PewInternet.org reports that young adults between the ages of 18 and 24 who text send or receive an average of 109.5 text messages per day. The same poll found that the median texter in this age group sends or receives 50 texts per day—which means that about half the texters in the group send or receive 50 or more messages per day and about half send or receive 50 or fewer. This median value of 50 obviously marks a much different “center” than the poll’s 109.5 mean would indicate. Explain how the two values could be so different.
