D. J. Parthworthy owned the Old Eagle Tavern, located with a beautiful view overlooking Deadman Canyon. One Saturday night, the bartender, Tran Ong, was serving Craig Hamada "Long Island Iced Teas" (an especially potent alcoholic drink) from 8 P.M. until 2 A.M. Ong knew that Hamada would have to drive some 15 miles to get home. Hamada left for home at 2 A.M., after "one more for the road," and had gone only 2 miles before crashing into an oncoming car driven by Toni Shelia. Shelia was killed; the relaxed Hamada was uninjured. Shelia's mother brought a wrongful death action against Craig Hamada, Tran Ong, and the Old Eagle Tavern. Discuss.
