Does lower-class (lower socioeconomic status) become delinquent for the same reasons as middle or upper-class youth? What are some of the theoretical explanations for these differences? Peer Post to Respond: It is believe that one of the important factors that can lead to anyone to be delinquent is the low category in the social class system, deficiency in education, poverty, an inadequate or disturbed family environment, residence in a bad neighborhood and belonging to a large family. But there are also delinquents in upper and middle classes who are characterized by the need to prove that they have lots of money with a despotic attitude towards lower economic classes. Children who grow up influenced by the imitation of parents, their contempt for those who have less than they, those who believe they have the right to humiliate, their desire to live and enjoy. Young people become obnoxious and lazy and their eagerness to live leads them to continuous conflicts with justice. These individuals easily come to antisocial attitudes. Generally, they move in a field of pre delinquency, because they hardly commit real crimes and when they commit, the money and familiar influences easily removed them from the problem. As to the theory of relative deprivation "condition that exists when people of wealth and poverty live in close proximity to one another that can develop feeling of anger and hostility, which can produce criminal behavior" (Siegel & Welsh, 2014) In my view, the result of all these theories and hypotheses is that none of them can by itself ascertain the origin and causes of juvenile delinquency; Although it is true that some of them offer worthy data regarding the predisposition of certain children and young people to crime, but it is equally true that none of them, in isolation, can determine with a minimum margin of error the reason why juvenile delinquency and the correct conduct of others and rather I believe that child and juvenile delinquency is due to the confluence of various factors (personal, social and economic).
