1. A write-up of the themes and the scenes which go along with it (see criteria below) Film
Write-Up/Analysis: Every political film you select will have a variety of political themes/topics in it. Consider the film we watched in class, Game Change. That film contained at least 15 different examples of things we discussed in class. It will be your job to offer a breakdown of the political themes in your film.
Your write-up should contain the following:
• Introduction into the film you chose
O Why did you choose this particular film?
O A brief synopsis of the story.
• An explanation of the different themes/topics within the film. You can do this in narrative format if you like, but it might be easier if you were to separate them.
O These examples should be identified and cited throughout
• Here are some examples of what it should look like based on the film Game Change that we watched in class. These are examples after the introduction.
O Public Opinion, Gender: In one of the opening scenes of Game Change, John McCain is listening to his advisers tell him that in order for him to win the presidential election, he must close the gender gap which exists. His advisers tell him very bluntly that without courting the female vote, he will not win the election. (You can use quotes from your film here as long as you give it credit from IMDB or wherever you may get it from.) The gender gap was covered and is loosely defined in the text as the "the difference between the percentage of votes cast for a particular candidate by women and the percentage of votes cast for the same candidate by men."
