a. Select a random sample of ten males and a random sample of ten females, and write down their answers to the question “What’s the fastest you’ve ever driven a car?”

b. Compare the males’ and females’ responses, using appropriate numerical and/or graphical summary information.

c. Recall from Chapters 1 and 2 that there was an obvious difference between male and female responses for the set of all students. Is this difference obvious in your samples? Explain.

d. It is true in statistics that the larger the actual difference between two groups is in the population, the smaller the sample sizes needed to detect the difference.
