Guidestar established Guidestar Platinum to allow organizations to share nonfinancial performance metrics. Organizations that choose to share nonfinancial performance metrics can receive a Platinum seal of transparency on their Guidestar page. Go to the Guidestar website (www.guidestar.org) and answer the following questions (note you will first need to register for a free Guidestar account).

a. How many organizations have achieved the Guidestar Platinum level of transparency? Search by Guidestar profile level to find the number of organizations that have obtained the Platinum level.

b. Choose one of the organizations that has obtained the Guidestar Platinum level. What is the mission of the organization? Does it provide Forms 990 on its Guidestar profile page?

c. For the organization to achieve the Guidestar Platinum level of transparency, it must provide information on nonfinancial performance metrics. For the organization you chose, what nonfinancial performance metrics did it report? If it reported more than one year of data, did the organization show improving or declining trends in performance?
