Call a local company and set up an interview with the firm’s cost or management accountant. The following questions can be used as starting points for the interview:

• What is your educational background?
• What was your career path to attain this position?
• What are your most frequently recurring tasks?
• What aspects of your job do you find to be the most fun? The most challenging?
• What college courses would be the most helpful in preparing a person for your job? Why did you select these courses?

a. Compare and contrast your interview answers with those of other students in the class.
b. Which one or two items from the interview were of the most benefit to you? Why?
