Assume that RS= RC= 50k „¦ in Problem 3.2, and calculate the optimum IC. What is the dc voltage drop across RC? What is the voltage gain?

In problem 3.2

A CE transistor is to be used in the amplifier of Fig. 3.72 with a source resistance RS and collector resistor RC. First, find the overall small-signal gain vo/vi as a function of RS, RC, β0, VA, and the collector current IC. Next, determine the value of dc collector bias current IC that maximizes the small-signal voltage gain. Explain qualitatively why the gain falls at very high and very low collector currents. Do not neglect ro in this problem. What is the voltage gain at the optimum IC? Assume that rb = 0.
