Whether you’re graduating this year or a few years from now, you may want to join a local alumni organization. Write an email to the head of the alumni association in the area you might live. Include two questions that you can’t find answered on a website. You might ask about specific club activities, benefits of joining, or steps to enroll.

When you receive a response, compare emails with your classmates. Is the alumni association communicating consistently across regions (if your association has multiple locations), and are representatives of the organization customizing emails to each of you? If you were advising the organization’s leaders, what suggestions would you make for them to improve their communications?
