2. Using a first draft of your own writing, repeat the analysis described in Exploration 1. If you find a paragraph with no apparent main-idea statement, try adding one. Where paragraph transitions are missing, add them.

In each paragraph, be sure that every sentence after the first includes a sentence transition. If you can’t think of one to add, that’s a signal to rewrite one or more sentences. Is the new version easier to read than the old one?
