The spectators at a sports stadium are “doing the wave”: they stand and raise their arms simultaneously with those in front of them and slightly after their neighbors on one side. This gives the appearance of a wave pulse propagation around the stadium. Is “the wave” analogous to a transverse wave or a longitudinal wave? Explain your answer.
