In May 2015, a woman sued her employer after she was fired for uninstalling a GPS tracking app from a company-issued smartphone. Does she have a case for wrongful termination? What about a violation of privacy? Does it matter if the employer requires that employees leave their smartphones on at all time? Would it make a difference if the employees were told at the beginning of their employment that the employer would monitor their off-duty activity?
