There are several online databases of non-market values that are used for benefit transfers. A good example is the Recreation Use Values database, maintained by Randy Rosenberger.

(a) Examine the database and describe its main features, including its potential uses for benefits transfer practice and research.
Summarize the findings from one published paper making use of this database.

(b) Suppose you are interested in measuring the value of a freshwater angling day at an inland lake in the US state of Wisconsin. Use the database to construct a unit value transfer, based on “study” site entries that seem suitably similar to your policy site context.

(c) Suppose you are interested in knowing how SP, RP, and combined RP/SP measurement methods produce systematically different (i.e. higher or lower) estimates of unit values. Conduct a meta-analysis of the database values to answer this question, making sure you take care to control for any other variables you think are necessary.
