Put the students in small groups. Have each person share a story of how health communication has affected their lives in some way. It could be a particularly memorable conversation with a healthcare provider, or maybe something they saw on television made a strong impact, or maybe they’re using a new communication technology to promote their health. Have each group pick one story to share with the rest of the class. Throughout the rest of the term, keep these stories in mind to see if the research presented in the remaining chapters shed any light on them.
