Microsoft created Windows Live SkyDrive and the Office Web applications as part of the Office 2010 launch. Somewhere in the middle of that launch, Microsoft Fuse realized that it would be a simple matter to put Facebook trappings (in tech parlance, Facebook Chrome) on top of SkyDrive, call it Docs, and enable SkyDrive to take advantage of Facebook’s momentum. The question is, does Docs deliver value or hype?

a. Go to the Windows Live SkyDrive Web site

(www.skydrive.com) and create a presentation having a few slides using the Microsoft PowerPoint Web App, as described in Chapter Extension 2. For the purpose of this exercise, it doesn’t matter what is in your presentation;

choose a presentation for another class if you want. Save that presentation and share it with several friends or team members.

b. Ask one or two of your friends to make several changes to the presentation.

(docs.com) and join. Add a Profile tab for Docs to your Facebook account. Share the PowerPoint presentation as in part a.

e. Reflect on your experience using SkyDrive and Docs. Does Docs add value or is it just hype?
