Question:

In this problem, you are simply going to add process codes from the APQC Framework found on pages 429-433 to the activities performed in each of the Mktg, Gen & Admin Dept worksheets. (You can use the same code more than once.) Note: If the answer is “attend meeting,” default to code 8.1, and if the response is “manage workforce” in some manner, use code 8.3. If you cannot identify a three-digit code, it is okay to use a two-digit code. Try not to use only the major code; although, if you really cannot decide, it will do for the exercise.

First, assign APQC activity codes to each of the activities for the respective departments and then enter the departmental budget from the Mktg, Gen & Admin Dept. worksheet in all respective departments in cell D75. Once you have completed all of the coding and entering the departmental budgets, you are ready to do the summary sheet called DB 8.2 Cst-Value Det’l Template. For each of the eight departments, you will follow the same logic. Using the data from the data worksheets in DB 8.1, copy and paste the data to DB 8.2 Cst-Value Det’l Template. Next, sort all the information by process code so all activities that use the same process code are together.

REQUIRED:

Turn in the worksheets for each of the departments to which you have assigned APQC codes along with the answers to the following questions: Which departments seem to provide input to the most other departments? To the least other departments? In other words, which department had the greatest diversity in process codes? The least diversity? Did you find that you had to use codes from multiple processes for single departments? What does this tell you about how organizations are managed?
