For the purpose of identifying older non demented people with early signs of senile dementia, a Mental Function Index was constructed based on three short tests of cognitive function. In Table 12.32, data relating the Mental Function Index at baseline to clinical status determined independently at baseline and follow-up, with a median follow-up period of 959 days, are presented [14].
