Labor unions take many forms and they may even exist on your own campus. Take this opportunity to meet the members in person.

• Ask your college Human Resource department about contact information for union representatives of college employees. Contact those representatives about volunteer opportunities. 

• Contact local trade unions about volunteer activities such as assisting with local Labor Day parades, picnics, or other activities. 

• Volunteer to assist the teacher associations at local K‐12 school districts with their efforts. 

As you put your service learning experience together, keep a journal of your activities, the time you spend, contact information for people you work with, and your thoughts about the process. When you’re finished, make a presentation to your class about the experience and what you learned. What concepts from were you able to apply?
