Develop a comprehensive strategic plan for your school.

Washington School is a magnet school in an urban environment serving about 1,600 students from early childhood to eighth grade. The school specializes in the language arts and is recognized throughout the city as being a good academic institution. The school is searching for a new principal since the recent termination of the last principal for poor performance.
There is a myriad of problems at the school which include:
1. Low test scores.
2. Low staff morale.
3. High attrition rate of teachers.
4. Frequent complaints from parents regarding curriculum, instruction, and school policies.
5. Several recent filings of sexual harassment complaints against male teachers by female teachers.
6. A lack of financial accountability and controls.

In addition to these issues the district has made several recent policy changes that have impacted the school. These policies will increase the student enrollment at the school over the next two years. This increase in students will put a strain on the school’s capacity, and there will be a need to expand the facilities of the school in order to accommodate this increased enrollment. Also, additional staff must be hired to accommodate these new students.
The school board is in the process of hiring a new principal who could start immediately to address these issues and plan for the future. You are a candidate for the principal position, and the school board has asked you to prepare “a ninety-day entry plan” outlining what you would do as a new principal during your first ninety days on the job.
The school board would like for you to prepare this written, comprehensive ninety-day entry plan and present it at the next board meeting. This should include detailed human resource planning, communication, facilities, legal concerns, staff morale, budget and finance, instruction and curriculum, enrollment projection, and any other factors deemed important.
