Question: A solid steel bar (0.5 mathrm{~m}) long and (50 mathrm{~mm}) diameter is placed inside and aluminium tube having (60 mathrm{~mm}) inside and (80 mathrm{~mm}) outside

A solid steel bar \(0.5 \mathrm{~m}\) long and \(50 \mathrm{~mm}\) diameter is placed inside and aluminium tube having \(60 \mathrm{~mm}\) inside and \(80 \mathrm{~mm}\) outside diameter. the aluminium tube is \(0.2 \mathrm{~mm}\) longer than the steel bar. An axial load of \(500 \mathrm{kN}\) is applied to the bar and tube through rigid cover plates as shown in Fig 13.33. Find the stresses developed in steel bar and aluminium tube. \(E_{\mathrm{s}}=220 \mathrm{GPa}, E_{a}=70 \mathrm{GPa}\)

0.2 mm 500 kN -50 mm- 60 mm 80 mm. 500KN Fig.

0.2 mm 500 kN -50 mm- 60 mm 80 mm. 500KN Fig. 13.33 0.5 m
