The chairman of General Electric, Jack Welch, was challenged at a stockholder’s meeting recently by a nun who argued that GE was responsible for the cleanup of the Hudson River where pollutants from GE’s plants had for many years been allowed to collect. Welch flatly denied the company’s responsibility, saying, “Sister, you have to stop this conversation. You owe it to God to be on the side of truth here.”
