Henderson worked as a radio dispatcher for the Dundee, Florida, police department. The police chief, she alleged, subjected her to repeated sexual comments and requests that she have sexual relations with him. She said that because she refused, the chief refused to allow her to attend the police academy. Further, he suspended her for two days for violating a minor office policy that never before had been enforced. She interpreted the suspension as a threat that she would be fired unless she gave in to her boss’s advances. Eventually Henderson quit and then sued the city claiming sexual harassment.
