To what extent do you agree:

(a) The changing nature of the workplace with flatter structures, a diminishing hierarchy, empowerment, remote working, demands for flexibility and working from home have all contributed to loss of effective organisational control over the actions and behaviour of people at work.

(b) It is a poor manager who relies on the exercise of formal power and position within the hierarchy for the maintenance of order and control. Personal influence is the only truly effective way to ensure members of staff act and behave in the manner expected of them.
