These three problems are based on one business situation. The three-problem series links quality costs, the Taguchi loss function, and statistical process control. As part of AutoSafe's quality program, control charts are prepared on a regular basis to evaluate whether the process is in a state of statistical control. Using process data shown in P912 , complete the following requirements.
\section*{Required}
A. Prepare a control chart for the AutoSafe glass windshield production process. To solve the problem using Minitab, use the following instructions: Open Minitab. Enter observations 1-20 in column C1. Click on Stat. Click on Control Charts. Click on Individuals. Enter \(\mathrm{C} 1\) into Variable field. Click OK.
Note: If you choose to solve the problem manually (or to use Excel), upper and lower control limits should be placed on your graph at \(Y\)-axis values 2.90 and 2.23 , respectively. Refer to Exhibit 12 in this chapter for an illustration of control limit and process average placement. You may manually calculate the process average or use the average function within Excel.
B. Determine whether the process is in a state of statistical control. Explain your answer.
