The costs of holding highly paid, but high-pressured, jobs can be high: for example, an increasing number of senior women are likely to be found in second or third marriages. Women in top jobs are more likely to suffer from stomach problems, reflecting their struggle with stress. Few women will have been mentored for top jobs. And some are beginning to wonder if they can ‘have it all’—that is, a highpowered job and a family.

Do men face these issues of whether they can have both a high-powered job and a family? Is this, then, really ‘equality’?
