Problem 13.1 With reference to the fruit fly mortality data (Table 13.1) perform a one[1]way ANOVA for the Model (Y = mortality rate |A = dosage level). That is, drop the blocking variable B (genetic strain) from the model and analyze the data using a one– way ANOVA model to determine whether or not the mortality rates of the fruit flies are affected by the dosage levels of the insecticide. Display your results in the format of a single factor ANOVA table (Table 12.3). Compare your conclusions concerning the existence of a treatment effect with the results obtained in the text using the RCBD model. Discuss in particular the effects of blocking.
