In this assignment you have to plan a project yourself. A number of projects have been mentioned in Section 1.2 of this book.

a Choose one of these projects or a project of your own. Discuss your choice of project with your teacher or trainer.

b Form a group of two to three people and together find approximately 30 activities for the chosen project. Remember those activities that are part of the preparation and those that need to take place after completion of the project. If necessary, consult an expert in the field of your project.

c Create a well-organised plan by arranging the tasks in logical groups.

d Determine the dependencies between the activities. Try to keep the number as low as you can. If A must follow B and B must follow C, then A must logically also follow C. Such a derived dependency is already covered by other dependencies and should not be included.

e After consultation with your teacher/trainer you should make:

• A manual network diagram

• A manual network diagram and a Gantt chart

• A Gantt chart using a computer program
