As you review these two articles, how do their suggestions agree with one another, and what suggestions appear to be in conflict or contradict the other? 2. The terms “analytics” and “big data” are frequently used by many organizations with consultants and providers suggesting that each will completely make over how organizations compete and succeed. You’ve read “Competing on Analytics”, “Analytics 3.0”, and watched a video “Making Data Analytics Work”. Based on these, if someone were to ask you what is meant by analytics and big data what would you tell them? If they were to follow up with a question asking why they are important to organizations, how would you respond?

3. Dan Pink’s TED talk video on Motivation was assigned. He summarized the latest research on motivation. You also were asked to read Nadler’s “Motivation: A Diagnostic Approach”. As a manager, what do you take away from these two pieces? Based on what they present, what practices might you adopt to increase the motivation of your staff?

4. In Uniting the Virtual Workforce the term “Virtual Distance” in introduced. Explain what is meant by this term and the way in which it is created.
