Question:
Indeed, this can due to lack of economic status or to the resources unavailable and because of these barriers parents are subconsciously in survival mode. While parents are doing the best that they can under the circumstances, it does not go without consequences in terms of the child’s development. Children that are stimulated physically and cognitively are able to thrive in development compared to children living in poverty" Given the evident importance of the impact of poverty on child development, it seems pertinent to come back to the ideas of resiliency and perspective. Children who are raised in impoverished homes are indeed at some disadvantage (at least from an educational perspective). Yet, I have seen many children come out of poverty to be quite successful and well adjusted. This makes me process the notion of how resiliency is a key factor in developmental health. A part of being resilient is the ability to adapt to change successfully. Thus, the children who grow up in poverty have to perceive that there is something better for them in the world.
