Jenny is the Personal Assistant to John, who is the Marketing Director of a Fashion company located in the heart of Auckland’s CBD. Jenny had been working with John for 5 months, and she found on three occasions that his attitude toward her was rude and demanding. Jenny felt she was being bullied and harassed, but decided not to pursue it, as she believed her boss John was under a lot of stress.
On Monday 6 May 2013, Jenny arrived 3 minutes late, and John came into her office asking loudly why she was late. Jenny noted that this was the first time she had ever been late and that she could not find a car park and it took some time to walk to work once she had located a vacant park on High Street – Auckland. John told her that her lateness was totally unacceptable and that she should either resign now, or be fired.-
Jenny was upset and contacted the HR Manager of the company to raise her concerns. She told that HR manager what had been happening over the 5 months with her boss, and decided that she was leaving the company for good. She said she was now going home as she was too upset to continue working.
