The function of these two treadmills simultaneously creates environmental problems because the more we produce the more waste we dump into our environment, and the more fossil fuels we burn to run out factories. If one factory is producing more to compete with another at a lower cost than the competition will do the same. And so begins this vicious cycle of competiveness for the production of a product that maybe no one wants but profits must be made to secure ones future in a capitalistic market.
