Critical thinking is a necessity when striving for success! In some way shape or form our goal is to advance. Whether it’s educationally, professionally and/or personally, we typically want to be the best that we can be. Critical thinking is the key. Becoming a Critic Of Your Thinking by Dr. Linda Elder and Dr. Richard Paul outlines the art of critical thinking and how thinking this way of thinking ultimately leads to success.

I, as a stay at home mother, tend to think critically 95% of the time. I am the Mom, the problem solver. Whether it’s coming up with ways to keep the little ones from fighting, planning the work week out or balancing the checkbook… I need to have answers. Although I see the benefits of critical thinking, there are also negatives. There are times that I struggle with needing all of the information to come to my solution, even of the information is not made available to me, and I come to a standstill. This leads to the times where I am not a critical thinker thus leading to times where I experience conflict, stress, or feel overwhelmed.

Is there a time where you thought that critical thinking doesn’t benefit you? If so, have you made the decision without thinking them through? How did it affect you?

Critical thinking is imperative because it allows you to analyze, evaluate and reconstruct your thinking. This type of thinking truly allows you to think of all possibility’s, given the information that you’ve obtained about the situation, and helps you come to a solution that is most likely benefiting to you. Whether it’s cutting someone out of your life or deciding to have children, critical thinking is essential.
