For the average person following their daily routine it may seem that there is not much thinking going into how they carry out their day, but the reality is that we all use critical thinking to varying degrees every day. While most of us are most likely not making major business decisions we are thinking about what time we have to wake up to get the kids ready, or what time we should leave to deal with traffic on our way to work. Every single day I am thinking critically about how to best manage my time with job hunting, doing school work, handling the kids all day, what I should cook for our meals and what time should I cook them, etc. I can see that I do favor the systematic comparison approach - I feel like I'm constantly thinking about what my next move should be, the pros and cons of doing tasks in a certain order, making my plan and adjusting as needed.

While I don't have a "team" I'd consider my husband, family, and friends my peers in this case. While discussing challenges or things that need to get done, many times we offer suggestions on how to go about them. It's funny that a lot of times it can be the simplest idea that someone didn't consider themselves is the best option. I've learned that brainstorming is helpful when you have a team because you have different experiences, thoughts, and perspectives to pull from for solutions.

It's clear that some people are better at critically thinking than others, but it is an ability that can be improved. As I've grown older I've become much better at it. Besides just making decisions it can also affect how you handle dealing with other people and disagreements or arguments. I made some pretty impulsive choices in the past - I imagine a lot of struggling if I did not use critical thinking in my life. My family depends on me to take care of most things, and that wouldn't be done very well if I was just going through life without considering the best way to manage everything.
