- Always identify director, screenwriter (or the equivalent), and date you saw the film. This should be a couple of sentences.
- Give a brief description of the film –a paragraph at most- in other words, what is the film about in a general sense?
- After the first two, you should write a “statement of meaning”. This should be something that was meaningful to you or was a positive moment, idea, etc. in the film (it can be anything you want). Something that made you think or reflect or have an emotion or feeling in some way. Regardless of how you felt of the overall film find something meaningful to discuss about the film. The “statement of meaning” should be at least a full and complete paragraph. Be thorough and use details from the film and your feeling of it.
- After your “statement of meaning” you should next write a full complete paragraph on some aspect/moment in the film that connected to some idea/theme/concept/issue that is relevant to society. Let’s call it a “social relevance” statement. Essentially, is/was there something in the film that made it relevant or addressed the world you currently live in? Did the film talk about something that is in the news, or something else that is thematic in our world. Again, this can be anything but please be specific and use details. This “social relevance” statement should be at least a full and complete paragraph.
