The following are possible topics for your paper:

1) A generous and noble character in a fairy tale;

2) The interaction of ichabod crane and brom bones in irving's "the legend of sleepy hollow";

3) The relationship of georgiana and aylmer in hawthorne's "the birthmark";

4) The theme of faith in hawthorne's "young goodman brown";

5) A comparative study of two characters or two themes in fairy tales or in other stories;

6) The need for a sense of independence (or the need for a sense of liberation from the oppression of one's surroundings) in gilman's "the yellow wallpaper";

7) The power of the imagination in gilman's "the yellow wallpaper";

8) The theme of good versus evil in cinderella;

9) The theme of inner beauty (for example, in "cinderella" or in "the ugly duckling"). These are merely suggestions. You do not have to choose one of these.

You may choose any topic (focusing on one of the required readings for the course) you wish for your research paper.
