Furthermore, as individuals, we focus mainly on what the expectation is and forget that we are human. Thus, ensuring we check in on our students is key to creating a welcoming and accepting culture. For example, if a student is acting out for no reason, we need to check in on that student and understand what problems they may be facing at home. With this, we can become role models for the students who may be struggling and help them understand that it is okay not to be okay. We are all humans with different emotions that may be easily shared or hidden; therefore, we must help those students who need additional support and guidance during their educational careers.
