Diversity in the workplace can encompass a wide range of aspects, including race, gender, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, religion, disability, and more. My first job working in a retail store was a very diverse place due to having different perspectives, backgrounds and experiences from everyone that worked in the store. Also, there were a variety of diverse ages. For me it didn't matter because I have always been in diverse places and I like it because I get to learn about each one of them and they get to learn from me as well. We can all teach each other something everyday. Due to the diversity in the workplace it led to better decision-making. Due to the team having individuals with diverse perspectives and viewpoints, we were considered a wider range of ideas and made informed decisions. It also contributed to a richer and more dynamic learning experience for all of us. The co-workers from different backgrounds and cultures brought unique perspectives and knowledge, leading to a more comprehensive understanding of the matter. In addition, embracing diversity expanded the pool of talent for recruitment, providing access to a wider range of skills, talents, and perspectives. This helped my job attract and retain top talent, leading to a more competitive and capable workforce. I believe something that could have improved is implementing inclusive hiring practices that actively seek to recruit individuals from diverse backgrounds could have helped increase the diversity in the store. Also, they could have offered a diverse training.
