Team Simulations Overview
Often, human resources management professionals act as leaders in their organization when working with important employee relations issues. While the nature of employee relations issues may be similar, no two employee relations issues will be the exact same. The circumstances and the employees involved will require a different solution each time.
Each of these simulations will allow students to apply theories and best practices to employee relations scenarios they may encounter in the workplace. The objective of each of these simulations and reports is for teams to apply the employee relations theories and best practices by designing and conducting employee performance evaluations and employee termination meetings. Teams are required to complete one simulation for each of the above noted topics. Please see the evaluation files for specific simulation requirements.
In addition to each simulation, teams are required to submit a report with each simulation containing the following information:
Overview and description of the situation - This section will include a description of the key stakeholders and how they are involved.
Key issue analysis
a. This section will include a list of the key issues involved in this scenario. This may include relevant laws, corporate culture influences on the situation, current situation of employees involved, and any other relevant key issues that need to be analyzed;
b. Team will identify and outline the role of important stakeholders in the situation; and
c. Teams will identify why these issues are both strategically and operationally significant to an organization.
Desired outcome - Teams will describe the desired outcome at the end of the employee relations situation and explain why this outcome is sought.
Steps taken
a. Teams will outline in precise detail the steps taken in the simulation and provide the rationale for their decisions; and
b. In addition five peer reviewed academic journal articles are required to defend the proposed outcomes and steps exercised in the simulation.
