Your communications agency has been hired by the Law Courts Inn, an event space and restaurant inside Vancouver's courthouse, because their landlord, the BC government, is threatening to close them. They want you to issue a news release to local media to gather attention to their issue and hopefully pressure the government to reverse its decision. They have given you a Q&A (attached) prepared for their media spokespeople. Using the information in this Q&A, draft a news release. You can quote the Inn's managing director, Sergio Gonzalez. Be sure to follow news release style and conventions, including having a boilerplate and contact info at the end.

3. In your groups,  brief marketing plan to promote a new line of gluten-free dairy ice cream from Shore Thing Ice Cream, now being sold in major grocery stores in the Lower Mainland. The ice cream products are aimed at 25-45 year old urban professionals. Analyze the audience in terms of demographics and at least 2 psychographics. Create a content calendar covering one month. Outline your key message. Detail what tools you'll use to promote the ice cream and at least one call to action for consumers. Include at least two forms of measurement.

Your plan should be 3-6 pages long, can include graphics but doesn't have to.

 

4. Using the attached graphic of choking hazards for toddlers at Christmas time, draft 5 social media posts to be sent from the Toy Council of Canada's (@toycouncilCDA) Facebook, twitter and Instagram accounts. You must have at least one post for each social media channel, and five in total. Be creative and informative, and keep in mind who would see the posts on each channel, and the word limits and/or graphic allowances for each channel. Explain what your graphic/photo/video would be, but you do NOT have to create any graphics for this assignment -- just the words.
