$1.$ Background

Using the designs created in Assignment $1($enclosure base$)$ and Assignment $2($enclosure lid$),$ develop a layout for a production facility to manufacture and assemble $600$ complete units per month. The production rate will be based on the manufacturing times obtained for the enclosure base and lid as per Assignment $1$ and $2$ respectively.

In addition, the following need to be considered the during development of the production facility:

$-$ All the equipment has a $\backslash (100\backslash \%\backslash )$ availability rate, during production and assembly operations.

$-$ There is a $\backslash (5\backslash \%\backslash )$ defect rate during the manufacturing process of the base.

$-$ During the assembly of the components, $\backslash (1\backslash \%\backslash )$ of the assembled units are rejected and scrapped.

$-$ The efficiency of the assembly line is $\backslash (98\backslash \%\backslash )$ and only one worker is assigned to an assembly station.

$-$ All the employees are employed according to the basic conditions of the Employment Act.

$-$ All the machine$/$equipment connections $($such as electricity, air water etc.$)$ are available at all the required workstations within the factory $($based upon the layout of your production facility$).$

$2.$ Assignment

$2\mathrm{.}1$ Develop a layout for a production facility to manufacture and assemble the enclosure components.

$-$ Develop a floor plan for a production facility using the available facility floor space as shown in Appendix A$.$

$-$ During the development of the production facility, the following manufacturing operations need to be considered and included for the manufacturing and assembly of the enclosure components:

$-$ Processing and assembly operations.

$-$ Material handling and storage systems.

$-$ Quality assurance operations.

$-$ Drawings of the complete production layout and floor plans including dimensions of the floor space required for each manufacturing operation and$/$or workstations, must be included in the technical report.

$-$ Compile a comprehensive analysis of the required labour force for the production facility to manufacture and assemble the required quantity of products per month.

All assumptions used during the development of the production facility must be clearly specified and motivated.
