1. Business process management (BPM) is about using information about business processes to improve upon them. Create a briefing note (see How to Write a Briefing Note) to the management team of an organization (fictitious) describing why the organization needs BPM. In your briefing, provide an example of a business process within the organization and how BPM could be used to be better manage the process itself.

2.Select an organization (fictitious or real). Apply the value chain model to the organization by answering the following questions: a. Briefly describe the organization. What is the organizations competitive strategy? b. Briefly describe the tasks the organization must accomplish for each of the primary value chain activities. c. How does the organizations competitive strategy and the nature of its business influence the general characteristics of the organizations information systems?

3.Select an industry in which you are personally interested (e.g. clean energy, professional sports, restaurant, advanced manufacturing, etc.) and select an emerging or new technology. Discuss how the technology could alter or even disrupt the industry.

4.Think about the websites you use regularly. Many of these would include a database. Choose one of these websites and answer the following questions. (Hint: An example would be Netflix data about movies and customers would be stored in a database. Do not use this example.) a. Give a brief description (i.e. 1-2 sentences) of the website and include the URL. b. Name and describe 2-3 tables that might be in the database. Include examples of possible fields for each table.
