$1.$ Copy$-$Paste scam: TCS has been asked to Pay $$210$ mn$.$ in fines by a US jury for copy$-$pasting a code and trade secret of a competitor $($SC$).$ CSC is a software service provider for the US insurance industry with their product called "Vantage". TCS had its own competing software, BaNCS, which has been doing well in the European market. In $2018,$ US firm Transamerica announced that they would migrate from "Vantage" to "BaNCS" in a deal valued at $$2$ bn$.$SC believed that BaNCS product is not yet ready for the US markets as the requirements and regulations of US markets vary greatly from those of the European market. They estimated that it would take TCS at least $5-6$ years to adapt BaNCS for the US markets. TCS has been helping Transamerica maintain its IT systems since $2014$ and has had access to "Vantage" codes, among others. In March $2019,$ in a set of email exchanges between Transamerica and TCS employees, "Vantage" codes were accessed and exchanged with several TCS colleagues, including those who worked on the BaNCS development team.In its response, TCS says they were simply responding to routine queries as they were expected to help Transamerica employees. So$,$ when the employee reached out to TCS with some issues in the "Vantage" calculation as it was not accurately accounting for certain scenarios and to troubleshoot the issue, the codes were shared, which TCS claimed is covered in the licensing agreement with Transamerica.a$)$ What are your views on the incident?
